Cainã's sounds intentionally play on the boundaries of established formats, blending a range of techniques, from sound manipulation to theatre and film scores; from composing with bands and producing for singers to beatmaking, sampling, field recordings and live performance
The goal is always this: to open up hidden, forgotten spaces like caves within the listener's auditory landscape; to evoke a sense of both familiarity and uncertainty, of distance and comfort

KIDNAPPED is a collaborative effort between five artists scattered throughout the globe, to push the boundaries of theatre, creating a mixtape and collage of soundbites, hit songs of past decades, political speeches, musical numbers and deep ambient tracks. It's an ongoing exploration of themes in the current political landscape.

With his body as a locus, Rodrigo expands explicitness into an aesthetic, investigating straightforward language and propaganda, gore-pornographic visuality and decolonization as a process of violence, all within an intense body research made from impulses of iconoclasm, indigestion, mutilation, blood and sex.

THE FURIOUS RODRIGO BATISTA (SIDE A) // Rodrigo Batista // 2019
Rodrigo’s furious alter ego performs a dance solo on a sound track of Brazilian pop-songs that are accompanied by a projection of announcements and lyrics on the back wall of the space. Approaching a state of despair and fury he performs a wild dance based on movements and gestures that evoke celebration, exoticism, the grotesque, the sexual, despair. He sings along politically charged lyrics and dances through the projected names of victims of street violence. Rodrigo’s performance (re)produces a tropic-political climate from a subjective point of view and aims at making the energy of fury palpable.

FRAMES OF A DEBT NOT PAID // [pH2]: estado de teatro // 2016
The play-movie-choreography seeks inspiration in the famous work of Igor Stravinsky to find possible means to disappearing, through which the body in debt is transmuted into another body, free of any debt or charge. The audience follows the erratic path of this group and these bodies in their refusal of efficiency up to their sacrifice on behalf of the potency of a life free of debt. Of a life that will vanish before our own eyes. Not now, but soon. You’ll know when.
The play opened in May of 2016 at Oficina Cultural Oswald de Andrade in São Paulo. Presented at SESC Belenzinho in 2016.

SHANAWAARA // 2016
Shanawaara is an album written and performed by Shanawaara, a project created and performed by activist LeFou. The themes in the album songs range from Christmas and family-holidays to popular brazilian-funk parties to children's dreams, all sung through the eyes of Shanawaara, a diva-performer self described as "when in doubt if I'm a man or a woman, please go with 'none of the above'".
Shanawaara toured various cities throughout Brazil, performing in festivals and music venues. The performer was invited and created a special presentation for Projeto Brasil, in Germany, at Kampnagel (Hamburg) e Hellerau (Dresden).

PROJECT 85: THE DEBT IN THREE EPISODES // [pH2]: estado de teatro // 2015
Episode 1: The face of the woman in debt
In this film, actual mothers of the Project 85’s brazilian members, expand the disgraced face of Helena Failure and enact the misfortunes that tackled her life. We follow her path from the democratic aperture in Brazil, her success on the job market to her financial and subjective decay. As the final outcome of this one life (or ten lives), we see an urban legend of a phantasmic woman who drives a cheap silver car and is willing to help brazilian women in debt, cursing against her own life.
In 2016, the film was selected to the Focus Exhibit at the Tiradentes’ Cinema Festival, to the Pirenópolis’ Documentary Festival, aside from winning the best short-film award the the Filme Livre Exhibit. Presented at Itaú Cultural, SESC Belenzinho and II Bienal de Teatro da USP in 2016.

STEREO FRANZ // [pH2]: estado de teatro // 2013
The audience is welcomed outside of a bar in a small town like any other. Inside, a band plays throughout the night. On the outside and on the inside, the residents perform their duties. More and more. Always more. All around the music is nonstopping and images are projected, creating more and more reading layers. On one side, Franz is harassed by the Doctor. On the other, Franz is observed by the Captain. Inside Franz there’s room for few: a friend and a lover. One doesn’t hear him, the other doesn’t see him. His friend only listens to what gets in his ears through music. His lover sees only what the psychic Yvette enunciates in spanish: Tiene Ojos, Marie! Marie never stops. She wants more and more. Always more. Marie wants to speak other languages. Franz can’t stand his own tongue. The foreign tongue will be capable of generating disorder and cutting through everything that never made sense: the explanations of men for all that does not make sense in any language.
The play premiered in Giessen, Germany, at the Festival Büchner International, in 2013. In 2014, it integrated Festival Mirada at SESC-Santos. In São Paulo, it stayed at SESC Santo Amaro from January through February of 2015. The work won the Myriam Muniz Award in order to perform its national tour in 2016.
